Privacy Policy
We at KidChatters.com™ and our parent organization, Jima USA, Inc., (hereinafter referred to as
KidChatters) have created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate
our firm commitment to protecting the privacy of the personal information we
gather from our registered child users, their parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s).
KidChatters recognizes that our users have legitimate concerns about
privacy. This concern for privacy becomes even more important when the users are
children under the age of 13 years. We support the guidelines and requirements of the Children's Online
Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) which became law on April 21, 2000. To learn
more about this important Act by the U.S. Congress, click

The following Privacy Policy Statement, which is part of our KidChatters
Statement of Acceptable Use Policy, sets forth

children in their family who will be participating in our chat services.

When We Collect The Personal Information:
It is during our three-step registration process that we collect
personally identifiable information. The personally identifiable information
we collect is collected for two reasons: 1) To confirm with reasonable
certainty that it is the child user's parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) who
are providing and consenting to the collection of all personally
identifiable information collected; 2) To learn with reasonable certainty
the true identity of the parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s), and child users
participating in our chat services. The personally identifiable information
collected during each step of the registration process includes the
following:
-
Step One - The Credit Card Charge Transaction:
We charge a small subscription fee of $2.95 per month. We collect that
subscription fee through a
secure online credit card transaction, processed by the Internet
billing Company, Ltd. (IBill). The credit card transaction helps us to ensure with reasonable certainty we are dealing with
a child's parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) before we collect any
personally identifiable information. In order to successfully complete
the secure online credit card charge transaction, the credit
card company requires, in addition to relevant credit card information,
verifiable personally identifiable information from the parent(s) or
legal guardian(s). The verifiable personally identifiable information
required includes first and last name, credit card billing address,
phone number and email address. The personally identifiable information
we collect is not stored onto our server unless the credit card charge
transaction is successfully completed.
We use the professional services of a third party credit card processing
company, the Internet
Billing Company, Ltd. (IBill), to collect personally identifiable
information during the credit card charge transaction process. Since we
do not control how IBill handles the personally identifiable information
provided to them during the credit card transaction, it is recommended
that you click
here to read the IBill Privacy Policy,
-
Step Two - The KidChatters Family Profile Form:
We require all parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) of our child users
to complete a KidChatters Family Profile. During this step of our
registration process we collect additional personally identifiable
information about the parents(s) and/or legal guardian(s) and the child
user(s) the responsible parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) are
registering for access to our child user chat services. The information
we collect on the Family Profile Form helps us to identify with
reasonable certainty the true identity of any chat room user(s). The
specific personally identifiable information we collect on the
KidChatters Family Profile Form includes:
Personally identifiable information collected about the parent(s) and/or
legal guardian(s) consenting to the registration of their child/children
user(s):
First name, last name, street address, phone number, and email
address.
Personally identifiable information collected about the
child/children user(s) being registered by consenting parent(s) and/or
legal guardian(s): First name, last name, sex, current age, and
birth date.
-
Step Three - The Create New User Form:
We require all parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) of our child users
to complete the Create New User Form. During this step of our
registration process we generate and collect additional child user(s)
personally identifiable information. The personally identifiable
information collected during this step of the registration process is
compiled into a child user profile. The personally identifiable
information we collect on the Family Profile Form and the Create New
User Form is compiled into a Child User Profile. The Child User Profile
is used as a security tool to helps us identify authorized chat room
participants. If we suspect a child user(s) in a chat room is not the
authentic registered child user, we use the Child User Profile
information to assist us in confirming the true identity. The Child User
Profile information cannot be viewed by any other child user(s) and is accessible
by KidChatters adult room monitoring staff only.
Personally identifiable information generated and collected about the
child/children user(s) in completion of the Create New User Form: User
name (chat room "handle"), first name, last name, personal
password. credit card transaction number, email address. and family keyword (a secret word used to
confirm identity).
Once the registration process is completed, we use "cookie"
technology to track certain personally identifiable information each time a
registered child user attempts to log on to a chat room. This information
includes the URL and IP address that the child user just came from, the
Child's registered User Name and Password, and type and version of web
browser being used. The information collected by "cookie"
technology is used to make the chat room log on procedure easier and to
authenticate the child user for security purposes. "Cookies" are small
pieces of information that are stored by a user's browser on the user's
computer hard drive. Unless selected otherwise at login, the "cookies"
we use are "session cookies," meaning that they are
automatically deleted at the end of a session. A child user has the
option of asking the KidChatters system to "remember" their
session information when they log on to the chat room. By enabling the
"cookies" technology to "remember them" whenever they
log on to the chat room, the child user does not have to enter their User
Name and Password every time they log on.
If you would like to disable the "cookie" technology, you
can usually do so one of two ways:
-
Most Web browsers
automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent that.
You
are always free to decline our "cookies" if your browser
permits.
-
If previously selected, deselect the option to "Remember My
Information" on the log on page. You may have to reboot your
computer after you deselect this option for the option to take effect
and, in essence, erase the "cookie" information.
If you or your child user sends us personal correspondence, such as emails or letters, or if other users or
third parties send us correspondence about your activities or postings on the site, we may
collect such information into a file specific to you.
