Our KidChatters™ Instant Messaging (KIM™) connects with KidChatters™ Members only! As with our other services such as the KidChatters™ Chat Room and WebMail, only registered members can communicate with each other. Moreover, the KidChatters™ Instant Messaging (KIM™) program is purposely blocked from being able to communicate with other Instant Messaging services such as MSN™, ICQ™, or AOL™. This "closed network" approach to Instant Messaging is very important to your child's online security. With KIM™ your child is not exposed to solicitations for personal contact information from outside, unknown sources.

No group chat rooms can be formed or outside chat sites accessed. Many Instant Messaging programs offer users the option of joining in chat rooms with strangers. Our KIM™ program does not allow its users to connect with any chat rooms outside KidChatters™, thus eliminating their exposure to strangers. It also does not allow for the creation of private chat rooms, thus avoiding KidChatters™ adult monitors.

No personal profiles can be created for viewing by strangers. Most Instant Messaging software providers allow users to create a personal profile of themselves, with information such as name, age, email address, home address, phone number, school, hobbies, and photo. This information is then made readily available to any IM user on the Internet. Not ours! The personal profile feature has been disabled. With no personal profile available for viewing, your child's privacy is better protected.

Our Kids Secure Instant Messaging has a simple user interface making it easy for kids to use. Nothing complicated about our KIM™ program user client. Our KIM™ program is designed with the needs of kids in mind. Since it loads from a web page there is no complicated download or installation. And, keeping user safety in mind it's loaded with the right features to make it fun to use.

We screen (filter) the content of all KIM™ messages before they are sent. The screening (filtering) of content is accomplished BEFORE an instant message is sent. If unauthorized content is detected, the instant message is prevented from being sent until the unauthorized content is deleted. Our Online Chatter Rules give our child users a clear guideline as to what is considered acceptable or unacceptable content.

Repeated abuse is automatically stopped. Each time the Warning Bee Filtering System detects unauthorized content the user is given a Cyber Bee Sting warning . If the child continues to try and send the unauthorized content and accumulates 10 Cyber Bee Stings, the KIM™ program is automatically shut down. When the KIM™ service is shut down a KidChatters™ Disciplinary Action Notice is sent to the parent's registered email address. The KIM™ service is not activated again until one of our monitors are able to counsel with a parent.

All Instant Messages are logged and the content recorded. Most other IM service providers log the Instant Messages but not the content making it very difficult to substantiate claims of abuse or dangerous relationships. Seldom is there an actual record of the content exchanged between users. Not ours! If there is ever a problem with Instant Messages your child is receiving from one of our users we are prepared to substantiate the problem. We have yet to use this capability, but we want you to have some peace of mind that we can get to the source of a security problem if necessary.

There is no file sharing feature in our Instant Messaging. Most other IM programs offer a file sharing option that allows users to download files to your computer's hard drive. However, serious viruses or pornographic images can be sent to your computer this way. Not ours! The file sharing option has been disabled. Since no files of any kind can be shared during a KIM™ session, parents do not have to worry about setting file sharing preferences.
